Would you like to be able to create trousers that fit every time? Learn to take your own measurements and use them to make a template from which you can create any style of trouser pattern. Then adjust it to create a limitless range of your very own made to measure trousers.
Create the Perfect Sewing Block for Trousers
Do you have much loved garments you would like to replicate? Bring them along to our half day class and learn how to draft a pattern from them. This class starts at 9.30am and finishes around 12pm. You will learn the techniques needed to create a new pattern from scratch to make a new garment from.
Drafting a Pattern from an Existing Garment (half day)
Have you ever wanted to learn to make your own clothes? This course will suit you perfectly. Over the day we will be exploring the fundamentals of dressmaking, reading a pattern, knowing which fabrics to select and what notions are perfect for the task. We will be practising how to insert a zip, finish a seam and putting in a bias binding finish. There will also be an opportunity to ask the questions you want the answers to.

In this one-day course, we will be getting to grips with jersey and knit fabrics. Learn how to set up your machine and what types of needles are suitable for stretch fabrics. We will be cutting our jersey with confidence,  sewing seams and hems and setting in a neckline.

We will also be turning our hands to grading (increasing/decreasing) a commercial pattern to be certain that everything you make in the future fits first time and finally, taking a pattern from an existing garment.

This class is perfect for the beginner or those in need of a refresher course in sewing. Our one day class is a good introduction to the topic but those wishing to study more in depth should take a look at our Sewing for Beginners 5-week evening class.
Sewing for Beginners (Daytime)
The beginners sewing evening class is designed to give you the basics of sewing in a fun and friendly environment. Over the course of five weeks, we will be learning the basics of machine sewing and creating a project to develop our new skills. We will also cover basic sewing techniques like taking up a hem, interfacing, setting in zips and much more.
Sewing for Beginners Evening Class
Making a coat can be a big challenge for some sewists, so why not try it in good company at our evening class sew-along? Over ten hours of tuition you will cut your pattern and sew your coat, finishing it with button holes or poppers to suit. This class is ideal for a first time or more advanced coat sewist. You select your own fabric and bring it with you. For a beginner, we recommend chosing a wool blend but the more adventurous may like to quilt a fabric and sew a lining.
